Did you see the latest CDC (yes, Center for Disease Control) post about being prepared for a Zombie Apocalypse? Yes, it’s real. And yes, it’s a stunt. But it’s a good one.
The CDC feels that anyone who follows their preparedness plans for a zombie invasion will also be prepared for any other type of disaster. See their recommendations at Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse.
And watch out for all types of disasters. =)
Thanks to loyal reader Matt for this one!

Take a moment to really look at this photo. The caption reads, “Surreal scene: A boy who survived the devastating March 11 earthquake and tsunami plays in a toy car in front of an upended real car in Ishinomaki, Miyagi prefecture, Japan, on April 6.”
One month has passed and the recovery efforts continue. Many of the problems are so big, so ecologically and economically challenging, that a stranded car like this one just doesn’t make the action item list.
In case the msnbc slideshow The Week in Pictures: March 31-April 7 opens up at slide #1, this particular image is slide #9. Photo credit to Yasuyoshi Chiba / AFP – Getty Images.

I love Chick-fil-A, and I have for years. Not only is the food delicious, it’s not bad on the scale of fast food nutrition. Probably shouldn’t make a steady diet of it, but really it’s better than lots of other stuff out there.
And I love the Chick-fil-A cows. I have several small plush cows with signs that my family members have gotten over the years (probably in kids meals). But I guess I hadn’t realized that the cows have their own website and merchandise.
If you’re a fan, you have to go:
Cow Campaign History
Cow Merchandise
Cow’s Own Website
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, then you:
- are not from/have never been to the south
- only eat chicken from KFC
- don’t know what you’re missing
- all of the above
